Cowork and plugins for finance — from data to deck in one flow
![]()
Anthropic just dropped a finance-focused update for Cowork and plugins: Claude can move between Excel and PowerPoint without losing context, five new Anthropic-built finance plugins are in a public repo, and FactSet and MSCI connectors plus LSEG and S&P Global plugins bring institutional data straight into Claude. For finance teams, that means research → model → deck in one session, no tool-hopping.
What it does
- Cross-app Excel and PowerPoint — Claude carries context between the two add-ins. Ask it to analyze earnings, update a model, and build a summary slide; when inputs change, it can update the rest of the workflow. Available in research preview for all paid plans on Mac and Windows.
- Five new finance plugins (all in the public financial services plugins repo):
- Financial analysis — market and competitive research, financial modeling, PowerPoint template creation and quality checking.
- Investment banking — deal workflows: review transaction docs, build comps, prepare pitch materials.
- Equity research — parse earnings transcripts, update models with new guidance, draft research notes.
- Private equity — deal sourcing and diligence: review large doc sets, extract financial data, model scenarios, score opportunities.
- Wealth management — analyze portfolios, spot drift and tax exposure, generate rebalancing recommendations at scale.
- Partner data in Claude — FactSet and MSCI MCP connectors (via Claude’s connector directory) bring real-time market data, fundamentals, and index data into Claude. S&P Global (Capital IQ Pro) and LSEG plugins in the same repo add tear sheets, transaction summaries, DCF with live curves, morning notes, and deal analytics for users with the right entitlements.
Why it matters
Finance work is scattered across models, data feeds, and decks. Being able to run “data → model → deliverable” in one flow, with plugins and connectors that match how each function actually works (IB, ER, PE, wealth), cuts context-switching and keeps everything in the tools teams already trust.
How to try it
Install or customize the financial services plugins (Anthropic + partner). Connect FactSet and MSCI via the connector directory in Claude’s settings. For cross-app Excel and PowerPoint, download Claude in Excel and Claude in PowerPoint. For the full Cowork and plugin story across all functions, see the companion post.
